We are currently looking for a Principal Engineer/Manager based in West Midlands

The Role:
*Our client a global organisation is looking for a Principal Engineer/Manager to lead the Seating & Restraints commodity for the Body Interiors team.
*The role will be to coordinate and lead the successful delivery of the Seating content

Key responsibilities
*Lead the Seating content within the Engineering team and its suppliers for current and follow on development projects
*Development of Technical Specifications and Targets (system level cascaded to component) in line with recognised benchmark vehicles
*Development of best in class and best practise Design & Engineering standards and procedures to support company’s Forward Model Quality aspirations
*Coordination of engineering activities carried out by the suppliers/partners – Design/Development, Test/Validation, Manufacture
*Coordination of all cross functional inputs/outputs for Styling, Package, Vehicle Integration, CAE, Test, Manufacturing, Service, Quality and Safety
*Interface for all other Systems groups (i.e. Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Body Structure, Exteriors, Closures)
*Ensure that agreed deliverables are completed meeting cost, timing, quality, specifications and targets
*Ensuring the accuracy of the BOM (cost/weight tracking)
*Development of FMEAs to support the Design & manufacture of the vehicles
*Development/management & development of the programs DVP&R
*Management of the Coventry based Seating Body & Trim Project Engineering & Design staff
*Provide reports to management – technical, concerns, status, planning
*Oversee release status meetings (PMST meetings at D&D suppliers)
*Attend design reviews and support package and vehicle integration meetings as required
*Coordination of activities associated with the carry over and carry over modified parts including TVM and model year changes
*Coordination of suppliers to meet cost, time, quality targets for tooling and parts (prototype and production)

Required Qualifications and Experience:
*Ideally have a degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline
*Proven ability within an automotive engineering background with a number of years of experience of successfully delivering projects in an OEM or Tier 1 capacity with responsibility of Seating
*Lead a team of Designers & Engineers
*A high standard of automotive technical knowledge of seating and restraints systems
*Ability to plan and deliver projects within budget and within the scoped time
*Ability to manage a team, good interpersonal and communication skills
*Innovative approach to management and team building
*Commercial awareness for preparation of projects and proposal development
*Drive and commitment to deliver technically challenging projects
*Able to be flexible on work location and prepared to travel within the UK and internationally on short assignments
*Experience with running a project using industry standard PLM/PDM & CAD systems. Enovia/Catia trained would be an advantage

-If you are a permanent employee, this will be paid as a salary bonus

-Payment is due only after a placed permanent employee passes the probation and rebate period
